APWR might take a dive (Like Today) before its over but long term, the company is going to continue to BOOK Contracts left and right…………
This remains a 2009-2010 story as the wind business looks to be on track and to add meaningful revenue at that point, while its core business remains firm. Backlog did dip from $700M to $650M, but the increase from December 07 to April 08 was immense ($400M to $700M). This is predictable as this is still quite a small company with inconsistent contract signings. This is over a year and a half worth of business and I expect more contract announcements over the next 6-9 months. But this is a market of 6-9 hours, if not 6-9 minutes, so the stock most likely won’t do much. All in all solid, but not enough to get the type of excitement necessary to draw in any hot money.
Ironically, if there was a profitable American “future wind” company such as this, it would probably trade 3x the valuation on hype alone. We do see what appears to be a temporary hit to gross margins due to what stage it is at in current projects and some increased expenses for hiring and listing on US stock exchange.
- For the three months ended June 30, 2008, A-Power’s revenue was $65.7 million, an increase of 21.5% from $54.1 million for the three months ended June 30, 2007. The increase was due to continued growth in A-Power’s core distributed power generation business and the relatively larger size of projects under construction compared with the prior period.

Wind Power
Xcel Energy is the nation’s No. 1 wind power provider.
On June 25, 2007 Xcel Energy announced plans to build and own a 100-megawatt wind farm in Mower County near Austin, Minnesota. The proposed Grand Meadow Wind Farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2008. Read more about the Grand Meadow Wind Farm. As of early 2008, we had over 2700 megawatts of wind energy capacity in service. We expect to grow to 7400 megawatts in service by 2020. We also are the leader in offering our customers choice in buying renewable energy. Through our Windsource® program, customers can specify that part or all of their electricity be generated by the wind. If you are an Xcel Energy electricity customer in Colorado, New Mexico or Minnesota, you can purchase Windsource® wind power for your home or business.
Colorado and Wyoming
We’re proud to have built Colorado’s first commercial wind farm, our 30-megawatt Ponnequin Wind Farm in northern Colorado. We have purchased the entire energy output of the state’s second wind farm, Ridgecrest near Peetz as well as the 162 megawatt Colorado Green wind farm near Lamar and the 60 megawatt Spring Canyon wind farm near Peetz . In 2007, we added 775 megawatts of new wind capacity in four projects, Peetz Table, Logan Wind, Twin Buttes and Cedar Creek. By year-end 2007, we have a total of 1085 megawatts of wind capacity – 1060 from Colorado and 25 from Wyoming.
Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota
We have a total of 1035 megawatts of wind energy capacity in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota as of year-end 2007. Most of this is located in southwestern Minnesota. In 2007, we added another 355 megawatts in Minnesota at the Fenton and MinnDakota projects for a total of 973 megawatts of Minnesota wind capacity. The North Dakota wind power is from a 12 megawatt project located near Minot. In 2007, we added approximately 50 megawatts of wind capacity in South Dakota in the MinnDakota project.
Texas and New Mexico
We have a total of 576 megawatts of wind energy capacity in Texas and New Mexico as of year-end 2007. In 2007, we added 161 megawatts of wind capacity from the Wildorado Wind Ranch in Oldham and Potter counties for a total of 374 megawatts of wind energy capacity in Texas. We offer customers in New Mexico wind power through New Mexico’s first voluntary wind energy program. At year-end 2007, we received 202 megawatts of wind wind energy capacity from Caprock Wind Ranch in Quay County, Llano Estacado and the San Juan Mesa facility near Elida, New Mexico.
Given the financial world of stocks and investing, I am UPPING my recommendations to “”STRONG BUY”" on b ZOLTEK given the play on WIND and the double edge side of ZOLTEK for supplying Deep Water Drilling Rigs Carbon Fiber. Whoever wins the election in USA is stuck with an awful problem of ridiculous Global Demand for POWER while our supply of OIL is limited . IF the Democrats WIN, its a WIND WIND Situation………if the Republicans win, its Deep Water Drilling everywhere!! Petrobras in Brazil IS going to do deep water Drilling no matter WHAT the USA does! China is building BIGGER WIND FARMS than anyone in the world!! APWR is a true China PLAY on WIND and a long term play for 2010!! STRONG BUY on ZOLT!!
My Research and MY OPINION ONLY but I know the World needs POWER and the World needs OIL!!!!
