Could Warren Buffett see the FUTURE??? Could APWR be Warrens next green play since he likes GE and GE is partnered with APWR for largest gear box factory in world in China for GE Asia ?????? China green scooter market is 22 million electric plug in scooters and is headed to 68 million units in 2013.

Since Buffett’s BYD shares were bought on the Hong Kong exchange, the position isn’t listed among Berkshire’s top U.S.-listed equity holdings, as reported to the SEC at the end of each quarter. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Buffett makes more notable “green” investments.

While we hesitate to consider preferred shares of Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS – News), which invests in some cleantech companies, and long-time Buffett picks General Electric (NYSE: GE – News) and Burlington Northern Sante Fe (NYSE: BNI – News) purely “green” investments, Cleantech Group executive chairman Nicholas Parker thinks they suggest a meaningful trend. “When stitched together,” explained Parker, the investments “paint a picture that suggests the super-rich are now ready to play big in cleantech related investments.”

Parker’s argument is supported by sizable clean energy investments and pledges from George Soros, T. Boone Pickens, and Richard Branson. It will be interesting to see if more components of tickerspy’s various “green” Indexes are reported among the top holdings of prominent Pros in upcoming quarters.

Though sometimes volatile, alternative energy investments can net thick-skinned investors big gains. In the last month, Chinese solar player LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK – News), ethanol play Green Plains Renewable Energy (NASDAQ: GPRE – News), and wind energy company A-Power Generation Systems (NASDAQ: APWR – News) have all added huge gains for their respective sectors. The group is certainly one to watch throughout 2010 and into the future.
