Suzlon head sees wind turbine shortfall under pact

Tue Dec 15, 2009 6:57am ESTRelated NewsQ+A: What do wind power chiefs want in Copenhagen?
Tue, Dec 15 2009COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – Demand for new wind power could far outstrip supply under a new global climate deal, the founder of Asia’s largest wind turbine maker said this week, calling for new manufacturers to help industry to fill orders. Tulsi Tanti, also chairman of India’s Suzlon Energy, said due to the size of the 36.5 billion euro ($53.5 billion) wind turbine market, he does not consider existing manufacturers as competition.

“The market is so large. With a deal agreed here it will grow even bigger, so there’s a lot of room for the new players,” Tanti said on the sidelines of U.N. climate talks in Copenhagen. “The industry hopes to grow more aggressively. The 10 (leading manufacturers) are not able to satisfy these targets, so we need more players.”

Delegates from over 190 countries have scant time to iron out a new U.N. deal, aimed at shifting the world economy from fossil fuels toward low-carbon sources like wind power, before 110 world leaders descend on the talks later this week.

Tanti was optimistic about prospects that a successor to the existing Kyoto Protocol pact would include a deal on how rich nations would share clean energy technology with emerging ones.

One delegate on Saturday said negotiations had advanced and the “contours of a technology mechanism” were emerging.

“We don’t see much immediate benefit in terms of existing technology, but a clean technology transfer agreement will mobilize resources for new technology, to develop the next generation of wind turbines,” Tanti told Reuters. “It will bring economies of scale that will give us an opportunity to standardize the technology … but the cost of wind technology has to come down to accommodate mass production,” he added, likening it to the auto industry.

With its stake in Germany’s REpower, Suzlon is the world’s third largest wind turbine manufacturer behind Denmark’s Vestas and Spain’s Gamesa.

Wind power could help meet up to 65 percent of the emissions reductions pledged so far by developed nations, according to the Global Wind Energy Council. Tanti said that without a new climate deal, wind power is still forecast to supply some 20 percent of global energy by 2030. With a deal, he said that that could grow to 30 percent, resulting in a 10 percent cut in global carbon emissions.

Tanti said to hit that target, around 150 gigawatts of new capacity per year would be required over the next 20 years. He predicted that much of that new demand will come from Asia.

“We can grow renewable energy development in all Asian countries. That’s the biggest opportunity we see,” Tanti said.

  • Ski, excellent observation and the seasoned investor doesn’t buy into the Street.com’s unsubstantiated, trashy, gossip column-like journalism. A-Power Energy is one of THE most EXCITING investments available today and when one looks at the financials from just the $1,500,000,000 W.Texas project alone could yield an additional $34 over time, on top of today’s share price of $19 – and as we know there are many, many Distributed Generation projects in backlog mounting to hundreds of millions in potential income with more future revenue coming on-stream based on China’s Renewable Energy stimulus funding; therefore my estimate for year-end 2010 is that APWR will be north of $65 per share which is based on how many “Irons” Mr Lu has in the “Fire”.

So Ski continue to keep this Blog alive since it’s an excellent source of information for both new and current APWR shareholders to stay current with trends and projects impacting their holdings.

  • After reading the hatchet trash talk of Mr Eric Rosenbaum of the Street.com, I would like to comment on the REALITY of the Texas China APWR Wind Farm. APWR is partnered with CIELO of Austin , Texas and Cielo has installed alot of wind farms to date and has 4000MW of wind farms in backlog. APWR is also partnered with USREG , a basic whose who of the Obama administration and lobbyists for clean power, so USREG and CIELO will guide this wind farm to fruition on time and on budget. The 1.5 billion price tag includes some serious extra price per megawatt based on current pricing (GE contract was 1.75 million per megawatt in Oregon)) so this covers the extra shipping and financing that the China banks are going to do.

The contract calls for APWR to begin shipping wind turbines in March 2010. APWR will hit this target and the first wind turbines will leave China on time! Sure, APWR has had past problems hitting their wind delivery schedules but that was in the past and the problems and snafus have been worked out over the time frame they missed. The majority of the Wind Turbines will ship into 2011, however , APWR has other DPG contracts and other news in the making that Mr Rosenbaum just sort of glanced over by accident??

My estimates for 2010 are only 70 Million Q1 compared to 31 million 2009 Q1……..the RAMP in WIND does NOT begin till Q2. My Q3 calls for 200 million in total revenues and most of my WIND REVENUES for this project do NOT begin till early 2011. APWR has so many ”irons’ in the fire besides this Texas 1.5 billion wind farm , its not even funny how ”’convienient” Mr Rosenbaum ””forgot” to mention anything else that APWR does and produces.

Mr Rosenbaum, U either write a ”better story” and take out your lousy trash talking ”’they might NOT ship for a full year”” comment or I will continue my campaign to expose U for what U are……….a pathetic writer of trash for a pathetic group that allows U to print such pathetic garbage!

Why dont U comment on the Raymond James fine video on WHY to OWN APWR for the next four years time????????

  • I have read hatchet jobs and crap, but the butcher block that Eric Rosenbaum of the Street.com wrote about APWR today takes the cake in lousy journalism. I have read bad stories and bad writing before, but Eric Rosenbaum takes the cake in low life journalists. How can the Street.com employ such garbage dump writers???

“”"”" the part about APWR may not ship the wind turbines for a year”’????? Where the hell did Mr Hatchet Rosenbaum get this tidbit from ??? Eric, can U not READ??? The contract says ”’APWR will begin shipments in March 2010””, which part of that can U not understand???

Eric Rosenbaum , U have hit a NEW LOW in pathetic journalism!

<<<<<<<< What’s more, it could still be a year until A-Power ships turbines for the West Texas project. While the agreement states that deliveries could begin by March 2010, one alternative energy expert said that deals of this type are often besot by delays, and that extending the delivery time horizon for A-Power out to summer/fall 2010 is more advisable.

  • maybe there is hope for Copenhagen after all ???

COPENHAGEN – Large pieces of a climate deal fell into place Thursday with new offers from the U.S. and China, but other tough issues remained before President Barack Obama and other leaders can sign off on a political accord to contain the threat of an overheated world.

An announcement by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the United States would contribute to a climate change fund amounting to $100 billion a year by 2020 was quickly followed by an offer from China to open its books on carbon emissions to international review.

The U.S. delegation did not immediately react to the offer by Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei. But it went a long way toward the U.S. demand that China report on its actions to limit the growth of Beijing’s carbon emissions and allow experts to go over its data.

The sudden concessions on the eve of Friday’s final session lifted hopes that the 193-nation conference could reach a framework agreement that could be refined into a legal accord next year on limiting greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change.

Obama and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao were to join more than 110 world leaders for the last scheduled day of the conference, which for most of its two weeks was embroiled in angry exchanges, a partial boycott by African countries and another entire day wasted in procedural wrangling. It’s also possible that once the world leaders depart, the talks could continue at the ministerial level and stretch late into the night and early Saturday.

  • the real story is APWR has announced Nevada for thier 1150MW USA Wind manufacturing turbine facility! This new Nevada plant will bring over 1000 new green jobs to Nevada!

Tickerspy.com gets the story right so far………..

    By the tickerspy.com Staff , On Thursday December 17, 2009, 10:04 am
A Chinese wind energy play surged on Thursday after inking a 600MW deal.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems (NASDAQ: APWR – News) has been on quite a run over the last few months. Back in October, A-Power became the designated turbine supplier for a 600-megawatt Texas wind farm. In mid-November the company announced plans to construct a production facility in the United States. Today, A-Power shares are surging after yesterday’s Washington D.C. signing ceremony made the Texas deal official, and technical patterns say the stock could be headed even higher.

As a whole, the Wind Energy Stocks Index was ahead by 4.3% in the prior five sessions, and it is now outperforming the S&P 500 by more than 5% over the last month.

  • Why Own APWR for the Year 2020 ??

sometimes, U have to compile the “”LIST”" of reasons to buy into the APWR story……..I could go on for days and days (ooops, I been studying and writing about APWR for 18 months so I guess I can say “”"I KNOW WHY I OWN APWR”") but for the rest of U , why would U want to own a Chinese/USA Wind Company???? and my buddy Darth forgot the “”"”"GE BOMBER GEARBOX FACTORY”"”" for all of ASIA! General Electric is my partner ???? Anyone ever heard of “”GE”" ????

    - Nigeria (you don’t spend a freaking week with the President of Nigeria to just drink tea!)
    - India (rumors of APWR bidding on large DPG projects)
    - Thailand (expansion of our biggest DPG project ever)
    - 750KW Turbines (we can produce 400 a year, and have contracts for none. But wait, what were all those APWR Norwin 750KWs doing in that Japanese TV film the other day?)
    - Hydroelectric (why is APWR’s Gaoke subsidiary suddenly saying they are doing hydroelectric power plants?)
    - Pakistan (how many other projects are happening there now that we have our foot in the door. We’re doing their Parlamentary building … think we have political support there???)
    - Vietnam (when do we hear about those DPG contracts?)
    - “Other Countries” Wind Turbines (Mr Lu said we are going to provide Turbines to countries other than the USA.)
    - Mysterious trip to Germany (Why did we run to Germany the other day with our parts guy? Are we supplying parts for the mega European offshore wind project???)
    - Wind factories in the USA (You don’t build multiple factories in the USA unless you have firm commitments! Ceilo has $8 BILLION in current backlogs …)
    - South America (APWR has rights to sell Turbines to South America. Do we have a contract already?)
    - Expansion of Shenyang Turbine Factory (APWR can expand the largest wind factory in China by “over 30%”. Do we hear that news next?)
    - Development of Bayan Nur Wind Factory (will this now be built?)
    - Evatech Solar (Mr Lu says 100 million will be generated from that. When do those contracts fall into place? What a steal!)
    - 7 MASSIVE wind farms in China (APWR owns the rights to develop 7 MASSIVE GIGANTIC wind farms in Inner Mongolia)
    - Most importantly of all, what is APWR doing to get to the $454 BILLION dollar Chinese green energy stimulus? You KNOW Mr Lu is all over that. Hell he probably authored the plan.

These are things we know about. What don’t we know about!

((((Nice work Darth, and to think Deutsche Bank is NOW reading this going “”HE FORGOT about “”"GE”"”"!!!)))

  • well, NEVADA was chosen for the new wind turbine plant for APWR and Shenyang Power Group along with USREG and probably the future partner in CIELO with 4000MW’s of wind backlog. Today marks the first day of the rest of my life owning APWR, how many others can make that statement?????

At 13:00 pm EDT on Dec. 16, 2009 at Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Shenyang Power Group, US renewable energy group and US Cielo wind power group jointly held an official signing ceremony for establishment of the joint venture, wind turbine purchase contract and EPC contract for building & operating the 600mw wind farm. Mr. Lu Jinxiang, chairman of SPG and Mr. Walter Hornaday, CEO of US Cielo group signed the above contracts on behalf of the parties of this joint venture.
Not only does this signing ceremony produce the biggest Sino-US joint venture in new energy so far, but also it symbolizes the cooperation among the investing parties has made a material step forward. Based on the agreement, the joint venture will start constructing a 600mw wind farm in Texas at the beginning of next year and A Power will supply 600 mw wind turbines in line with the building progress of the wind farm.
The deputy mayor of Shenyang city Mr. Yang Yazhou has attended the signing ceremony.
After the ceremony, US Senator of Nevada, also the majority leader at senate Mr. Harry Reid met with mayor Yang Yazhou at the capitol hill, expressing his congratulations on the official signing ceremony and his welcome and support for the joint venture choosing Nevada to base its the wind turbine assembly facility.
The Chinese ambassador plenipotentiary and extraordinary to US Mr. Zhou Wenzhong participated the meeting too with his congratulations on the successful signing of agreements.
Also being present at the ceremony and meeting there were COO of A Power Mr. John Lin, from US renewable group managing director Mr. Cappy McGarr, two managing partners Mr. Ed Cunningham who is also the senior consultant of US president and Mr. Moses Boyd former trade consultant at US senate, and CEO of US Cielo group Mr. Walter Hornaday.

  • as I have been saying, those that understand China and financing will be the winners down the road into the green energy future.

Ask yourself what 1.5 billion of revenues will do for a 320 million revenue company down the road???? My guidance is 670 million for 2010 and this small number can be kicked up as other new contracts are won and announced!

I have been 3% + or – the past 4 quarters but from now on, I am hoping to come in around 10% + or -.

with the signed 1.5 billion done deal, the future is very bright for the coming future as APWR moves from start up to successful wind company.

watch for China to announce more wind farms for APWR going into the future!

and, remember, CIELO has 4000mw’s of backlog on the books for wind power

  • Its been a long , rough ride but the ”first” of the coming parade of “”BILLION DEALS”" has landed and as they always say, ”Your First Billion is the toughest”"”! APWR has signed the Texas 600MW Wind Farm and the coming wind and DPG and biomass contracts will shock those that are truly LONG on APWR over the years. Today is just the tip of the iceberg as the climate is melting, the world needs clean energy , and APWR has more hot irons in the clean fire than I can type about this evening!

I am here to tell U that as I have always predicted for how long, “”"APWR is the NEXT FIRST SOLAR of CHINA GREEN CLEAN ENERGY”"”! An investment tomorrow of $20,000 for 1000 shares is a play on $58,000 by end of 2011.

When U land “”ONE BILLION DEAL”", where there is one billionaire looking for a production tax credit on wind, billlionaires are like deer, when U see one, there are always others running in the shadows. I am here to tell U that I am already on the trail and the recon of the ”2nd Billion deal ”’ coming to USA!

LONGS, bury those shares and NEVER EVER get nervous or doubt your due diligence or thinking.!!! Those that own APWR are in for the ride of their lifetime over the coming next four years!!! Relax, buy more, and stop by the blog and let me and the world KNOW what U are thinking about APWR and the future!!!

Our lives just changed in one PR if U are long on APWR, congrats to all those that are truly LONG and along for the ride!!!
